Representative work
From installed fiber to entangled photons.
Quantum entanglement experiments
SPDC from a type II beta-barium-borate crystal pumped with a 406 nm UV laser — entangled light produced at the intersection of orthogonal polarization rings.
Ghost imaging
Quantum-entangled ghost images including the first published ghost image in reflection mode — work published with Boeing co-authors in APS, OSA, and IQEC proceedings.
Laser systems
Hands-on work with Ti:Sapphire and Argon laser systems, including Coherent’s mode-locked Mira.
PMD measurement & statistics
Polarization-mode-dispersion statistics across a service provider’s network — 15-year-old fibers included — to qualify plant for higher modulation rates.
Distance vs. PMD & data rate
Calculated maximum fiber distance versus PMD and data rate, assuming no external PMD compensation.
Dispersion & attenuation curves
Measured chromatic dispersion and attenuation versus DWDM wavelength, curve-fit for direct inclusion in fiber link budgets.
FSO deployments
Free-space-optics installations in Puerto Rico, Singapore, and Rio de Janeiro — and the NY–NJ disaster-recovery link after 9/11.
Hybrid MMW / FSO modeling
Distance-versus-availability modeling for hybrid millimeter-wave / FSO links, including FSO up-time share when MMW is primary.
